Error message only when opening "saved" documents

When I open a document saved to my hard drive, I get the following error
message:

The command cannot be performed because a dialogue box is open. Click ok,
and then close open dialog boxes to continue.

If I click ok or x out of the message then my document opens - there are no
other dialogue boxes open.

Any suggestions
