I have created a Slide Show and emailed it to a number of member of staff.
One one member of staff gets this error message when trying to open a slide
which has Excel embedded in it.
"Microsoft Powerpoint Cannot start this application to open this object. An
error occurred and it is not longer functioning properly. Would you like to
repair this now?"

I have tried to repair it, upgraded to SP3, checked the Security, any more
ideas.

Thank you

I'd first ask what version of PPT and Excel the recipient is using...and
also what version of PPT and Excel you're using. It may be an issue with
Office 2003 vs 2007.

However, it may also be a different issue. See this for starters:

Can't edit Org Chart, Graph, Excel (error msg: "server application, source
file, or item can't be found")

Thank you for your response. I am using v 2003 for both products.

Thanks. That eliminates any possible issues there, at least! I'd send the
recipient that article -- or suggest some of the options listed in there,
starting with reregistering OLE.
