My laptop was recently stolen and therefore I have used my backup discs on
my
new computer. The installation seemed to be fine to begin with and I have
been able to add contacts easily without problem (I have Outlook 2003).
The
following day I returned from work to continue adding my contacts and it
just
stopped working and everytime I tried to add a contact the message
"Operation
failed" appeared. As far as I'm aware I haven't done anything to the
settings
etc. on outlook - all I did was turn on my computer and open outlook and
this
happened. The other thing I've noticed is it is very slow to open the
program.
I have tried reinstalling it and trying to detect and repair faults at
which
times I have been told things have been repaired and outlook will
work....but
it doesn't.
I have got my gmail account linked to outlook and have used it prior to
the
problem. Now when I click on imap.gmail.com a message says "Unable to
expand
the folder. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not
available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists."
I hope that helps a little bit..? Sorry, I'm not hugely technical!! Thanks
for all your help/ suggestions!

This would only happen if there was something wrong with your
installation.
Post the precise steps you used to create this problem. Include all
relevant
details, like your Outlook version, how you configured your Outlook
profile,
mail account type, information store, whether you have ever been able to
use
Outlook and if so what you did to break it. You have provided no
information
whatsoever that would permit help from a newsgroup.
