I am running Outlook 2007 on WinXP
I started getting the following error from today in Outlook 2007 when I
start it:

----------------------------
Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The file C:\Documents and
Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost cannot be accessed. You must connect to
your Microsoft Exchange Server computer at least once before you can use
your offlline folder file.

Remove the Exchange Server setting using the Mail applet in Control Panel.

Thank you so much Diane and Pat. I tried both the solutions proposed, not
sure which one was applicable, but it worked and now I can access all my
offline folders and also all the emails.

Nick.

I would try system restore - go back a few days and see if it works. If so,
immediately move the contents from the ost to a pst file.

Unfortunately I cannot connect to Microsoft Exchange Server as I have quit
the company. Some of my personal mails were stored on my laptop and I
could
access them through Outlook 2007 till this morning, but I cannot now.

The error message that you have specified in this post is very common
for most of the Outlook users. To resolve this error message, you need
to either connect with Exchange Server or have to convert OST to PST
using OST to PST software. 'www.osttopst.com'

In this case, you need OST to PST converter to access your emails, contacts
etc. with OUtlook. http://www.repairostfile.com/

They've disabled your mail account or remove your name from their domain list. So as you are no longer a member of the company, remove the exchange account in the Control Panel or you will see the warning every time you launch outlook.

In additional, if you want to see and restore your letters in that mailbox, you have to use a 3rd party utility. I've using <>Advanced Exchange Recovery for a year and all OSTPST problem is solved. It converts OST 2 PST, repair PST and OST files. Supports non-unicode. Aha, so much...

Oppps, Here is the link to Advanced Exchange Recovery---->www.datanumen.com/aexr/

Good Luck
