Error message that I can't open office

I have an intermittent problem. Sometimes, I can't open my Office software
on my new Mac after loading the software bundle from Tiger containing Office
test drive 2004 for mac. My mac is brand
new Oct 2007 and I am running Leopard. When I got my computer Tiger was
running and then guy at the mac store said to do a clean install of Leopard
which I did. Then I went back and asked what happened to my software and
they recommended that I install just the software from the Leopard disk. It
contained Office Test 2004 drive for mac.

I get the following error message:
Microsoft Office 2004 cannot start becasue Microsoft Office is already in
use. An office program is being used by "My name" here. Your installation
exceeds the number of installations permitted by the license agereement.
and I am referred to this webpage:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/produc...how_to_articles/office2004/pid_infraction.xml

I deleted the test drive version using the remove office feature and emptied
the trash along with the office 2004 for mac. Then I reinstalled Office 2004
for mac. I still have the problem. What else can I do?

Removing the Test Drive has been a nightmare for many users. Try running
"Remove Office" a couple of times. See this page for more help:

The error message you are getting means that one of the Microsoft Office
programs installed with that licence is already running on another machine.

Over to you to figure out how that could have happened, but the Office that
is already in use is on another machine :)

Cheers

Thank you. I didn't realize that I couldn't load it on both of my desktops
for personal use. It said that I could only use it on a desktop and a laptop.

It's my understanding that even with a laptop, you can't have both running
at the same time.

I called MS and got everything squared away. I uninstalled office 2004 from
my other computer and reinstalled office to my primary computer. Thanks again
for your help.
