Do you have any clue what "soffice.exe" is or does? Are you saving the
attachment to a Word document folder on your HD before trying to open it?

I believe soffice.exe is the main executable for Star Office word
processor and possibly Open Office word processor.

If you do not have it installed, Navigate to My computer Tools
Folder Options
File Types. Scroll down the list to the file extension of the
attachment, say doc (I assume) for a word document, and select a different
application to view/edit the file. Suitable applications include MS Word
and Corel Word Perfect. Similarly, change the application that opens the
spread sheet file to Excel.

I am assuming you have MS Office applications installed. If not, you can
get "viewers" for these files from microsoft.com. Alternately, you can
download Open Office and install it. It can open Word and Excel files.
