error message; unable to open entourage

Version: 2008 Received same error message when trying to open entourage:
the application Microsoft Entourage quit unexpectedly. MAC OSX and other applications are not affected. Click relaunch to launch application again. click report etc.
so i've hit relaunch repeatedly with no change. unable to open entourage. very frustrating

It means it crashed (without any additional indication).
You can try launching the application pressing the Option key down to
rebuild the identity. It might be corrupted.

I am not the original person who asked about the error message but I am having the same problem. In addition, now I have lost the shortcut on my desktop and cannot get it back. Before I lost the shorcut, there was a black question mark...I have no idea what that is about but there is no way I can use Entourage at this point. Extremely frustrating for a not so experienced computer user.

I am not the original person who asked about the error message but I am
having the same problem.

What happens when you launch Entourage pressing the Option key down?
Does it let you properly rebuild?

In addition, now I have lost the shortcut on my desktop and cannot get
it back.

Find Entourage in the Finder and drag it to the desktop pressing
command and option at the same time. It should create an alias there.
