error message using A drive

Buddie Massey

I am "techno-illiterate" and need layman's help!!

I have several documents on a diskette I am trying to
access. When I insert it and try to access it I get a
message that says "data error (cyclic redundancy check)"

What the heck is that?? How do I get to my documents??

I sure don't want to retype all this stuff!!

thanks!!

Open Windows Explorer and then drag the files off your disc to a file on
your hard drive and then Open your program and from the File menu go to Open
and try it that way. Many times you can't open a document from a floppy.

Just to add to Chuck's comment: Opening a file directly
from, or saving a file directly to, a floppy disk is one
of the quickest way to corrupt the document. Don't do it.
Copy or move the file to and from your hard disk. Open and
edit it there only.

You may want to buy a CD-R like we other 6 Billion - works perfect @ .03 per
blank CD.

Three cents per blank CD?! Where? We thought we were getting a
fabulous deal at 33 cents.

CRC errors would suggest the disks are corrupt. Were the files saved
directly to the floppies? Never save or open documents from a floppy. Always
save or copy to the hard disks first.
