Error message when attempting to insert an AutoCAD drawing

I'm trying to insert an AutoCAD drawing into a word document and each time I
try I get an error message:

This object was created in AutoCAD.
This application is not available to open this object.
Make sure the application is properly installed and that
it has not been deleted, moved, or renamed.

I used to be able to insert them just fine. I have Office Professional
Edition 2003, Windows XP Professional 2002 SP:2

I found the article, thanks. The resolution however, is of no help at all. I
can't insert the drawing without those errors and there is no clicking back
and forth of open documents or embedded objects. The object (drawing) isn't
even in the word document, I've tried with the AutoCAD program opened...and
with it closed, still nada...

Are you able to insert other objects, graphics, drawings, etc.? Is it only
AutoCAD that you cannot insert? What format have you saved the AutoCAD
drawings in?

I can insert other things, it's just AutoCAD drawings. This is my route from
the main toolbar when I'm in the word document:

Insert---->Object--->AutoCAD LT Drawing

That's when the error occurs. The drawings are saved as AutoCAD LT 2004.dwg

Very strange. Will AutoCAD let you save in a portable format (png, jpg or
similar) so that you can test using a non-AutoCAD drawing format? I am
suspecting that either the import filter is corrupt or missing.

I can export the drawing into a .wmf file, or print it as a .pdf, then save
it as a .jpg file. I was liking the convenience of not having to delete the
picture file each time a revision needs to be made to the CAD drawing, then
reinserting it, usually if a change is made in the CAD drawing that's
inserted into the word document, it reflects the changes made.

Stranger and stranger. Have you tried reinstalling AutoCAD as it sounds as
though something has broken between Word and it. Reinstalling may repair the
broken association.
