Error message when deleting mail in Outlook 2000

C

Carloslu

Whenever I delete an email message , I receive this message: "MS Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close." Clicking on further details
provides "Outlook V 9.0.0.6604, Mod name: oleaut 32.dll." Clicking on
Technical information shows lots of zero strings that don't appear to helpful.
I have repaired Outlook, but it does not solve the problem. I have googled
without success. Every other aspect of Outlook is running well, and I do not
wish to change to another email program. Please help.

I found this in another thread, hope it helps:

There are several factors that can cause the problem you are experiencing,
such as:

1. Conflicts between Outlook and Anti-virus programs such as Norton or
MacAfee.
2. A corrupt Outlook profile.
3. Corrupt Outlook program files.

Narrow down this issue by troubleshooting the following steps:

Step 1: Temporarily disable any anti-virus/firewall software.
===========================================
Temporarily disable Norton and any other anti-virus/firewall applications to
see if the problem is related to anti-virus/firewall software. If the issue
persists, perform step 2.

Step 2: Start Outlook in Safe Mode
===========================
Safe Mode will disable all add-ins and extensions that will start, as well
as any corrupted resources, files, registries and templates.

(a) Close Outlook.

(b) Click Start menu-> Run, type "Outlook /Safe" (Quotation marks are not
included and there is a space between Outlook and/Safe) and press Enter.

If the problem goes away in safe mode, there is an Add-in that is causing a
problem.

Step 3: Create a new profile to see whether the issue persists.
==============================================
Create a new profile to test if the problem is related to a corrupt profile.
Creating new profile will not do any damage to the old profile. Don't delete
the old profile until the new one is working and you have backedup your
emails, calendar, contacts etc.
