Error message when trying to import incoming e-mails.

Hi - I'm at my wtis end with this so really hoping somebody can help. I've
got the 2003 version of outlook and it has worked fine for around 2 and a
half years.

Suddenly, the following error message occurs when I press send / receive:

Task 'Kathleen Ross - Receiving' reported error (0x80040900) : 'The server
name you entered can not be found on the network (it might be down
temporarily). Please verify that you are online and that the server name is
correct.'

The POP settings etc have not been touched! I contacted Dell and they have
advised that as the mails can be accessed through webmail, this (supposedly)
proves it's nothing to do with them or their server - and must be a software
problem. They have therefore told me to go to Microsoft with the problem -
but it looks like that will cost me 43 pounds + VAT so I thought I would see
if anybody could help me on here??

I'd be really grateful!!

Thank you so much...

What you need to do by the looks of things is the following:

Go to Start> Settings> Control Panel> Mail

Double click the show profiles or double click your pop 3 email account
profile.
Confirm the email server information is correct, condfirm your account
information is correct and test connectivity to the server from the test
function.

If that works fine with no problems then it could be coruption of the
profile itself where you can create a new profile and renter the pop3 info
and username/password, test again and if this works it gives you something to
go from.

If the issue is not profile related try running and outlook repair through
Start> Settings> Control panel> Add/Remove Programs look for MS-office 2003
and run the repair from there.
