Error message when trying to open html editor

I have created and editted my signature in Outlook 2002 many times. Now,
when I click the Advanced Edit button, I receive the warning that "an html
editor is opening that is not part of Outlook". I click YES and then receive
the message "could not find an html editor for .htm files".

I have my email editor set to Word and my Internet option set the same way.
What's the deal? I used to be able to do this.

The editor that is being used is not related to the editor for composing
messages but is your default HTML editor as set in Windows;
Control Panel-> Internet Options-> tab Programs

If this is set to Word already, try changing it to another editor such as
Notepad and see if it works now. After this, you can change it back if you
want. If it doesn't work, try resetting your Web Options or Internet
settings as a whole (depends on your version of Internet Explorer and
Windows).

Thanks for the response. I did change my HTML editor in the control panel as
you suggested. No change whether I chose Word or Notepad. Please explain
how to reset my web options as in your second suggestion.

Thank you.

Control Panel-> Internet Options-> tab Advanced
Here you'll find a Reset button that will reset your Internet Explorer and
web settings for Windows and should also fix this issue.

I tried resetting the Internet options as you suggested and I have the same
problem. Any other suggestions?
