I recently upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. I have an Excel file
created in Office 2003 that includes a pivot table. The data source for the
pivot table is an Access database (2002 .mdb format).
When I open the Excel file and try to refresh the data source, I get the
error below:
"You cannot choose a connection file that is incompatible with the existing
connection."
I have tried converting both the Excel file and the Access database to the
new Office 2007 formats but this did not resolve the issue. I've Googled the
error and didn't find anything helpful. I'd prefer not to have to rebuild
every single pivot table we use. Any ideas? You'd think this kind of backward
compatibility would be as basic as it gets, wouldn't you...
