With all applications closed, look for your normal.dot. If you have Windows
XP (or W2000) it will usually be found in C>Documents and
Settings>Username>Application Data>Microsoft>Templates. Note that you in
Windows Explorer settings you need to enable Hidden Files and System Files
and clear the check box against Hide File Extensions of Registered File
Types - otherwise you may not see normal.dot.
Once you have located normal.dot in the folder above, right-click on
normal.dot, select Rename and delete the dot extension and make it bad so
that the file says normal.bad.
Restart Word and test again.
