error message

Does anyone know how I can sort out a problem. Each time
i try to use word on office 2000 an error message comes
up. ERROR 1402. and it says that it could not open key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\micorsoft\office\9.0\word.
I have tried to remove office and install it again but it
won't let me remove it. Help! Please!
