Error messages trying to open Word!

I'm having trouble opening Word. I try to open Word though Microsoft Works,
and I click on a Word task, and I get an error message saying "Microsoft Word
for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" after I closed that
box, I get another error message saying "The Works Task Launcher cannot
access the task you selected. Files needed to start the program may be
missing, corrupted, or may have been deleted. To restore or replace the
files, reinstall the program, and then try starting the program again."

Yesterday, I tried uninstalling Works, and reinstalling, but that didn't
work...I got the same error messages. Then I just tried uninstalling and
reinstalling Word, but again, I get the same error messages.

I don't know what to do...I tooked at some topics here, and clicked on this
article that was suggested for someone else:
But I don't really understand what the article is telling me to do. Any
suggestions?

Thanks.

Perhaps you took advice elsewhere to uninstall the Microsoft Works Suite
Add-in for Word? If you do that, then you can't start Word from Works, I
think; you have to start it from a freestanding shortcut. If you don't have
one, use Windows Search to find winword.exe (you'll need to set Windows to
display and search for hidden and system files and folders), then create a
shortcut to it (right-click on the file and choose Create Shortcut) and drag
the shortcut to the desktop, Start menu, or Quick Launch bar.

Ok, I searched for winword.exe, and created a shortcut...clicked on it, and
it did work, BUT then I closed Word, and clicked on the shortcut again...and
it starts to load, but then closed right away with the error message "word
encountered a problem and needs to close" so I don't know what to do
now...and also, I think I may have uninstalled the Microsoft Works Suite
Add-in for Word, so how would I reinstall it so it works again?

Thanks.

Try the shortcut again. It's possible that Word hadn't completed shutting
down when you tried it again. To reinstall the add-in, I think you'd have to
do a Repair or Change install of Works Suite.

Alrighty, I tried the shortcut again, but there's still the error message. I
also did the repair of Works Suite, and I tried clicking on a couple Word
tasks, but yet again, I keep getting the error messages as before...now I'm
really stumped!

You might try asking in the Works NG; they may have better information on
this.

Hello again.
I posted my questions in the Works newsgroup. I set it up where I'd receive
a notification of replies through e-mail, and when I click on the clik to get
to my post, there's an error. I went to the works newsgroup from this site,
but it appears the works newsgroup isn't working?!
