Error messages with Ms Word Reader AddIn

I have previously used the Ms Reader AddIn with Ms Word and been able to
make e-books from documents with footnotes. This time with a Word 2003 doc
on Xp
Pro, there are no footnotes, no special characters (like @) and no Greek or
Hebrew when the Reader AddIn builds an e-book.
Unfortunately I failed to write down all the error messages. There were
several. I think one set of errror messages made mention of problems with
links - I don't know if this refers to the hyperlinks in the text and
footnotes - and then there were at least 5 'missing' files'. The 'missing'
files have something to do with buildign the e-book.
The original file was formatted in WordPerfect in 1999. Last month it was
then converted to WorldPerfectX3.
From there it was converted to doc (97-2003) and html files. It was
these latter files, of course, that were used when trying to 'build' the
e-books.
When I use OverDrive's Reader Works 2.0, I get the entire document, some
special characters, most of the Greek and Hebrew characters, but no
footnotes, some characters and Greek and Hebrew are missing and the e-book
only shows up on the right half of the page. So I went to a competitors
e-book maker and the results were better than Ms Reader AddIn but worse than
OverDrive's Reader Works.
Update: I just tried to go from WordPperfect X3 to rtf (which creates some
minor problems with the text) and then left the Reader AddIn for Word 2003
build the e-book. This is the best so far. However, none of the Hebrew
characters are in the e-book and some of the Greek characters are missing.
Any suggestions on where to go from here? I am trying to put a 300+ book
into a more secure format for a reader I consider superior to pdf but
getting no where fast.
