Error Messages

Can anyone please help?

I have recently been experiencing problems with Word 2007.

When I open up the programme, I am greeted with the splash screen which
freezes, and is followed by a pop-up which says, "Word could not create the
work file. Check the environment variable". I do not know what this means.

If I click "OK", the programme then runs and opens Word. However, it is very
unstable and will suddenly freeze in the middle of typing.

Additionally, I have noticed that all existing macros have been wiped out. I
tried to re-create my key-stroke macros, only to be informed that "Macros
cannot be created".

I ran the set up programme from CD ROM and selected "Repair". I was informed
that the repair had been successfully completed, but the same error messages
noted above occur when I run the Word programme.

Grateful for any pointers as to what I need to to short of a complete
re-install (if it can be avoided).

This problem is usually caused because when Office was installed, you had
another drive connected (USB flash drive, another HDD or even a partition
you have now deleted). You should find that reconnecting the drive will
resolve the issue. I believe that SP1 will resolve the problem.

Thank you for helping so quickly.

I did as you suggested and it did the trick.

Once again, many thanks
