Error mg: The remote procedure call failed--Outlook 2002

I've been using my Outlook 2002 fine for years, and suddenly it started
freezing when I compose an email message and hit "Send." Sometimes it hangs
for a minute and then sends, and sometimes it just crashes.

When it does crash/freeze and I force quit, I get the message "The remote
procedure call failed."

Any advice? Thank you.
