Error Msg:DException_FILEOPEN_ERR

J

Jim

In the last several days this error has repeatedly
returned. Typically happens in Office 2000 programs Word,
Excel, PPT, when I try to print or change the
font/formating from the tool bar.

Usually it clears after hitting cancel/ok several times but
frequently tool bar functions are not available.

I have tried the repair function in Office 2000 to no
avail. Also ran scan disk and fixed all errors.

Does anyone have an idea what causes this and how to repair it.

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,

The Office apps obtain their fonts from the printer driver so you
might try obtaining an updated printer driver from the manufacturer's
web site and see if that resolves the error.

Hi Jim,

Start Word using the /a switch which will start Word using the
defaults and see if the error still occurs. Go to Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash.

For Excel use:

Excel /s

If the error does not occur then reinstalling will not resolve the
issue. More than likely the problem is due to a third party add-in.
Check the Office\Startup folder in the Office installation path and
see if any add-ins are present. If files are found move them out of
the folder to prevent them from loading.
