I have 4 users who are getting the same error when trying to save, print, or
print preview in Excel 2003. The error message is: "MS Office Excel has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the
inconvenience. The information you were working on might be lost. MS Excel
can try to recover it for you."
In Event Viewer, log file reads:
Faulting application excel.exe, version 11.0.6355.0, stamp 40aa979f,
faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.1217, stamp 3eb1b41a, debug? 0,
fault address 0x00033905.
One user was originally getting the message in Excel XP, so I upgraded to
2003, did not fix issue. User is able to work on the same files on another
pc, so I know the files are not corrupt.
Basic system config:
IBM ThinkPad T-30, Windows XP, SP1a with latest updates, Office 2003 with
all updates, Visio 2002 with all updates, McAfee Enterprise 7.0, latest dat
files. Have run virus scans as well as removed spyware.
