Error Msg when transferring Outlook to new laptop...

Hey, I'm trying to transfer my Outlook folders and data to my new laptop.
I've exported/backed-up the current .pst files on the old computer but when I
try to copy and paste them to a flash drive an error message comes up that
says

"The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a
portion of the file."

Any ideas what process would lock the file or how to get it to cough up the
key to the castle??

Thanks! Victoria

Is Outlook closed when you do this? Outlook must be closed when you copy the
data and move it.

First, don't xport. There's no reason for it. Second, stop Outlook
completely. Uncradle any handheld device. Stop any desktop search indexer.
You should then be able to copy the original PST to your flash drive. After
doing so, copy it from the flash droive to the other PC's hard drive to a
folder that does not already contain a PST. Open Outlook and connect to that
PST with FIle>Open>Outlook Data File. Use Tools>Account Settings>Data Files,
select the copied PST and click Set as Default. Stop and restart Outlook.
Use Tools>Account Settings>Data Files to remove the PST you created when you
installed Outlook.
