Error: No Table of contents entries found

Hi

I am using Word 2002. I have created a large template with macros,
toolbars, styles etc.. in it. I have also created several TOC's. One has
been created using the styles option and the other 3 have been created using
the TC fields option. Everything has been working fine until we created a
larger document which would have over 400 TC fields to be included in the
TOC. I get the above error when I try to generate it.

Currently the client would like to keep the file in one document but is
there any way around the above or have you any other suggestions that I could
use to fix the probelm.

Kind Regards
Looking forward to any suggestions as can't find any information out there
about it.

In order to create a TOC based on TC fields you must check the box for
"Table entry fields" in the Table of Contents Options dialog; otherwise the
TOC field does not look for TC fields. To check whether an existing TOC
field is including TC fields, press Alt+F9 to display the field code and see
if it includes the \f switch. If not, you can add it manually.

Hi Suzanne

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately all the TC fields etc are entered
correctly the error only occurs when I enter over 350 entries i.e it works
with 349 for example but as soon as I enter the 350 entry the error occurs.
It happens at different points sometimes around the 350 mark sometimes more
up at the 390 mark. It there an alternative to this do you know or is there
some kind of limit on TC entries or bookmarks perhaps?

Thanks a million.

The maximum number of fields in a document (all fields collectively) is
32,000, so I don't think that's the problem. I can't imagine what the
problem could be, but 350 entries sounds like an awful lot for a TOC. Is it
possible that this TOC is going to be too detailed to be very helpful?

At any rate, perhaps someone else will have some ideas on what might cause
this problem.
