Has anyone found the solution to this?
It occurs when a Visio 2003 drawing is pasted into Word 2003.

If the file already contains a Visio drawing, it is displayed as a red
X. However, when doubleclicked, in-place editing of the Visio document
loads and the image is viewable in editing mode. Exiting editing mode,
takes you back to the red X.

I created new user account and from it, I can view Visio drawings inside
the Word doc as expected.
