Error occurred whilst deleting a project

Hi Everyone

Whilst deleting a project using the clean up server facility, I received the
message

"An error occurred while completing the operation"

The view refreshed and the project had disappeared from the list so I
assumed that it had been deleted and all was ok.

However, I run another report querying the MSP_PROJECTS table and the
project in question is still present.
So it appears to have been deleted from the MSP_WEB_PROJECTS Table but not
from the MSP_PROJECTS table.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this project?
I was thinking I could just delete the corrupt project from the MSP_PROJECTS
table but fear this may leave behind loads of other info associated with the
'deleted' project.

(Gary/Dale..if you read this there is a SQL procedure on your website,
MSP_DROP_ENT_RES that deletes a resource completely from server 2002. I was
wondering if this could be modified for a project instead?)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Rich,

As scott mentioned, try to use Project Server Cleaner Tool. But I
never able to find these kind of orphan projects resulted from Delete
failure in Cleaner Tool.

I recommend to use ODBC connection to open MS Project Professional,
this option list all the projects from MSP_projects table. So you can
delete the project from there.

Thanks
Chak

1) Create the system DSN (machine data source pointing to ProjectServer

Database).

2) Launch project pro

3) File -> Open -> Open from File -> ODBC

4) select the DNS created on step 1.

You can see all the project plans from project server including ghost
plans.

5)Select the plan and click X to delete the plan

Thanks

Dear Chak

Thanks for the help - I have used the PSCleaner utility before with success
but like you say it does not show these ghost projects..I think the PSCleaner
looks at the MSP_WEB_PROJECTS table and not the MSP_PROJECTS table.

The advice you gave about the ODBC connection has worked perfectly..I have
learnt something new today so thanks again :)

Hi Scott

Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunately, the PSCleaner tool does not show the 'deleted' project...I
think it must get it's data from a different table in the database.
I will see what some of the other replies suggest

Rich
