In PWA 2007 (SP1, December '08 CU), one user gets this error message on one
instance in particular when opening the Applied Updates Requests and Errors
page:
"An error was encountered in loading the page. Refresh the page, or contact
your server administrator if the problem persists."
The user had administrator level permissions. This does not happen when the
same user accesses another PWA project.
The user tried uninstalling and reinstalling Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.
In addition, he tried the following steps:
A. Remove any Project 2007 controls that are already downloaded
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the General tab, and then click Settings in the Browsing history
section.
4. Click View Objects.
5. Right-click Pj12enuC Class, and then click Remove.
6. Right-click PjAdoInfo4 Class, and then click Remove.
7. Close the View Objects window, and then click OK two times.
B. Configure Internet Explorer permissions for ActiveX controls
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab, click Trusted Sites, and then click Sites.
4. In the Add this Web site to the zone box, type the Web address for your
Microsoft Office Project Web Access site if it is not already present.
5. Click Add, and then click OK.
6. Click Custom Level.
7. For the following five ActiveX controls and plug-ins settings, click
either Enable or Prompt, depending on whether you want to be prompted before
you load ActiveX controls:
a. Download signed ActiveX controls
b. Download Unsigned ActiveX controls
c. Initialize and script ActiveX Controls not marked as Safe
d. Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
e. Scripts ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
Any additional troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I
will double check on which version of IE is installed (either 6 or 7). I
would think that the browser is not the problem since the user is able to
access the Applied Updates Requests and Errors page for another instance.
