error on converting to 2003 format

I have got a FE and BE access database which i am converting to 2002-2003
format. The front end converts without any problems, but when i convert (or
try too) i get an error message that reads: There is no field names
"BaseRowLineage" in table "MSysTombstone".
The said table does NOT exist on my batabase and never has.
I have tried converting to 2000 format to see if that worked and get the
same result.
I have also tested the Front end to an older version of the BE to get
another error message saying you can not change anything in the BE due to it
being an older version. I accept this but the Access 2003 website says it
should work.
Can anyone help me please?

You say the front end converts okay, so I assume the problem is with an mdb
that has tables only (no forms, report, or code.)

Firstly, uncheck the boxes under:
Tools | Options | General | Name AutoCorrect
Explanation of why:

Then compact the database to get rid of this junk:
Tools | Database Utilities | Compact

If that still fails, create a new (blank) Access 2002/3 format mdb.
Immediately disable the NameAutoCorrect stuff.
Now try importing the tables from the bad database:
File | Get External | Import

MSysTombstone is used on replicated databases. I suspect the BE MDB
was somehow inadvertently marked for replication at some point in the
past.

You could try importing into a new MDB but I'm not at all sure that
will be sufficient to ensure the new MDB isn't also replicated.
There are tools available from Microsoft which will assist you in un
replicating such a database.
