Error opening file

I am using Word 2003 and tried to open a file saved on a network drive with
word 2002 with the following error:
"Word experienced an error trying to open the file.try these suggestions
Check the file permissions for the file or the drive
Make sure there is sufficient free memory or disk space
Open the file with the text recovery converter"

File permissions, memory & disk space are all ok and
I can still open the file using Word 2002 on another computer so the file is
not corrupt. The text recovery converter gave the same error.
Any clues?

This problem was corrected by

"Description of the Office 2003 critical update: November 4,
2003". This update is also included in Service Pack 1 for Office
2003.

Hi,

I got the same message when I try to open a word file but only on the first
try. when I try opening it again, it opens with no error.
Eventhough I can still open the file, it frustrates me to have to open the
file twice.
any idea what's the problem?
note: This happens only on some word docs and my Word is 2003 with SP1
