I have a Samba 2.2.5 dfs share set up, which I have
shared folders accesible on the network. When I insert a
hyperlink in Word to a dfs'd shared folder, Word "cannot
find the specified file". Once I browse to that Samba
dfs linked folder, the shortcut works fine. It appears
to cache this recognition to the dfs'd folder until the
system is rebooted. After a reboot, the shortcut once
again errors out.
I have found this evident for both Win2K and WinXP OS. I
have also found that hyperlinks to the root of the dfs
link work i.e. \\sambaserver\sharename\dfslink\text.txt,
but anything buried another folder level deeper i.e.
\\sambaserver\sharename\dfslink\subfolder\text.txt does
not.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
