Error opening installation log file

i am trying to load office 2003 professional in my new pc. On inserting
the disk, i get the message - "Error opening installation log file.
Verify that the specified log file location exists, and is writeable".
I have searched for solution to this everywhere, and although there is
reference to this problem, the fixes are way beyond my level. Is there
anyone that could provide me with a fix in fairly basic terms?

Hi, hornet,

If you provide some detail about the things you've read about that are
beyond your comfort level, perhaps someone here can provide clarity for you.
I'm not aware of a single fix for the issue--there could be several reasons
why the installation log file might not be available, depending on your
situation.

Otherwise, you may need to contact Microsoft support. It's possible, from
my understanding, that they will assist you in getting the software
installed for the first time at no charge.
