Error opening XLS file.

Hi group,

I don´t konw if it´s a bug, or some wrong configuration, but while trying to
open an attachment on Entourage 2004, it just does not open.
So, to fix it, i´ve save the attachment on any folder, then open the
attachment from the e-mail (that´s really strange, but that´s how it
worked).
Is there any fix to it? or something i´ve been doing wrong?

What does happen when you double-click on the attachment in Entourage? I
assume you are double-clicking from the top of the message pane, in the
little "attachments:" window?

What are the exact steps in this process?

I think there are two possibilities.

One, you have Entourage set to *not* download messages over a certain size,
and so the attachment isn't really there until you save it. Check the
settings in Tools | Accounts, Options to check that.

Two, the OS has lost track of what to do with a .xls file. To fix that, in
the Finder, select any Excel file. Press cmd-I to open up Get Info. Where
it says Open With (click triangle to expand if necessary), select Excel 2004
as the program, then hit Change All. That will tell the OS that all .xls
files should be opened with Excel, and when Entourage passes opening off to
the OS (as it does), it should work.
