Error openning out look for the first time - cna not access registry

I have just installed MS Office XP and went to setup
outlook and when I click on the icon on the desktop
it "acts" like it is going to open outlook, but then
errors out with; "access can not access the registry".

I had to set the user up in outlook express for the time
being, but need to move the client to outlook.

This is a re-install, and I did run office to repair any
damaged files, but still receive the same error.
