receive time out error waiting for POP server. Cant rcv OR send msgs. Problem
present with Firewall ON or OFF. Configured Firewall correctly to accept SMTP
and POP, and Ports 110, 25, 143 and any other ports needed. Cable modem ok.
Restart of cable modem and/or computer - no effect. Wipe and re install
windows XP Pro - no effect. Disable EVERYTHING I can find - no effect. Start
up numerous windows Services to see if a certain one is required - no effect.
Email address correct. POP and SMTP address correct. password correct.
Enabling Logging just tells me what I already know - cant connect.
There is obviously a particular option or setting or service or function
required to get Outlook 2003 and Xp Pro to work together correctly. I need
info on this issue. Possibly related to MAPI ?? If you help, I appreciate
it. Please be specific and detailed. Dont need to defrag or clean up cookies
or temp files or such. All that done. This problem occurs with a clean fresh
install of OS. ISP is not issue. Can send receive on email account just fine
with different computer using SAME cable modem. Problem HAS to be with
setup/config of Outlook 2003 and Xp Pro. Please advise on methods and answers
you have found.
