Error - outlook archive has reached its maximum size

Hi,
I am helping someone who has outlook 2003 and have set things up to archive
when things are older than six months. The outlook pst file is 1.6 GB and
the archive folder is 1.8 GB and growing. she would prefer not to delete
things in the archive folder since she frequently accesses it. One of the
reasons why it is so big is that there are alot of attachments with her
e-mails. Below are the error messages that she is getting. Is there an
alternate solution that someone can think of?

Thanks,

Error while archiving folder "Sent Items" in store "Personal Folders". The
file C:\Documents and Settings\mmoss\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst has reached its maximum size. To reduce
the amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need,
and then permanently delete them by pressing SHIFT+DELETE. You could also
consider using the new Outlook Personal Folders file (.pst) introduced with
Outlook 2003 that provides greater capacity for storing items and folders.

Setup a new archive PST file that's in Unicode format. That will allow more
expansion

Vince,

Thanks for your help. I have been doing some research on unicode in outlook
but am a little confused. Does it require me to have Exchange? We don't
have that product here. Do I simply convert my old archive.pst file to
unicode?

Thanks,

probably your pst is the one you used in Outlook2000? That one has a
maximum size of about 2 GB.
Can you create an new pst file in Outlook2003. An easy way is to rename
the old one. Outlook will prompt for you to search (no) or create a new
one (yes). After you organised a few things you can start importing
e-mail from the old pst file. Or open the other pst file in your
outlook and drag&drop e-mail to you new pst file.

will this help you?
