Well it looks as if I am not the only one here who is having a problem with
downloading updates. It would be nice if Microsft would take a look at the
group problem and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!! What is their problem? I am
buying a MAC computer next time.

Yes in fact I did just that and screwed my computer up even further. I spent
the whole day with Dell Connect today on the phone and computer. I still
can't get it to work.

Unfortunately registry cleaners are known to completely screw up the system.

What damage has occurred? Are you merely trying to update your office program?

Use the following fix below. Please post back with result

1st Rename Office subkeys

Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user

3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0

4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.

2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to and click Control Panel.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3. Click Change/Remove Programs on the left pane.
4. Highlight Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 on the right pane and click
Change.
5. Insert the correct version of CD when it requires.
6. Select "Reinstall and Repair" and click Next.
7. Select "Detect and Repair errors in my Office installation".
8. Click Install and wait the process to end.

3rd. Install the Updates

I don't want to mess with my registry again myself. The technician that
helped me did something remotely, I don't know what he did. He helped with my
Outlook problems but the Servicepack 3.0-ox643 and servicepack 2.0 ox643 did
not install after many many attempts. It said that some updates could not be
installed. I was able to install other ones just not these. I have been
having this problem for a month now. How would I know what damage occured?
All I know is someone did take a look at my computer yesterday from Dell On
Call (which I paid for) and he hasn't solved it yet. I don't have time to
spend on this today and will have to take it up Sunday or Monday since I will
be unavailable for a few days.
