Error: Printer not ready

I'm have a user who has a windows 98 installation with office 97.
We as a company get huge amounts of business related emails from Taiwan.

When this user tries to print an email from taiwan, it throws out an error
"Printer not ready", and it starts printing gibberish. Changing printer
drivers won't help.
I have loaded the IME of chinese traditional but to no avail.

This only happens with chinese emails.

please help
