Error re dialog box

When opening Word , Outlook, and Excel from Office 2003, I get messages such as the following
"The command can not be performed because dialog box is open" or
"A dialog box is open. Close and try again"
Although this does not keep me from moving forward it is very annoying. Any suggestions on getting rid of these messages?
