Error Signature

When I tried opening an Excel file which was created using MS-Excel 2003 and
later updated using the Excel 2007 nit prompts the error in the subject.

While MS-Excel could repair the file some data in the file is lost in the
recovery process.

Details about the error in the dialog box

Error signature

I would like to know why this error is appearing. How shall I overcome this
in future
