The client / end user was successfully moving e-mail items to a "Personal
Folder" and then Outlook 2003 developed this problem.
"Unable to display the folder. Could not complete the operation. One or more
parameter values are not valid."
It began with one Personal Folder and having never seen this particular
error condition before, my first thought was to run SCANPST.EXE SCANPST did
find errors and offered to fix them, however the folder did not become
functional again.
I then instructed the client to create a new "Personal Folder - Test" and
begin using that one until further research could be accomplished on the
error message. I believe he did use it for a few minutes and then that
folder developed an issue also.
Since this problem began I have:
1. Created a new .PST file = Unsuccessful.
2. Created a new e-mail Profile = Unsuccessful.
- (renamed all Outlook related files (.srs, .dat, .ost, .xml to .xml_OLD)
before new profile was created)
3. Removed and Readded the "Outlook 2003" component of Microsoft Office
using the "Change" button of "Add/Remove Programs" = Unsuccessful.
4. Created a new Microsoft Windows XP desktop Profile for the End User =
Unsuccessful.
- ("Inbox" on the "Mailbox - (lastname), (firstname)" level had become
unresponsive with the same error before I created the new Profile, and this
step (#4) resolved that issue - - How? Why? Dunno.)
5. Tried "outlook /cleanviews" as described in another Discussion Groups
Home posting = Unsuccessful.
6. Ran "Detect and Repair" from the Help menu = Unsuccessful.
I will be reinstalling the entire Office 2003 Professional suite of programs
next.
I will let you all know how this "saga" turns out.
TIA.
