Error trying to attach a file from desktop folder shortcut

User clicks on a desktop shortcut folder but message says "Only files or objects can be attachments. L:\xyz is a folder and cannot be attached. It appears to only occur if you click on a folder shortcut because if you click on a non folder shortcut you can attach a file without a problem.

It appears to be isolated to this one PC as I can create a shortcut to this same exact folder on several other PC's and Outlook allows me to attach a file from within it.

I appreciate any feedback you can give me.
