Error trying to Sync with actuals, when Publishing and saving plan

I have two projects that when the managers are trying to publish and save
them and it gives them the question: "Actuals are out of sync, do you want to
sync with actuals from timesheets?". They answer "Yes" and the following
error message pops up. Locking the projects and never completing the sync
process.

Microsoft Project has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience. With the "Send Error Report" button.

Has anyone experienced this before?
Thanks

When the Project operations cause the Project client to crash, particularly
when it occurs across multiple systems, it's a very strong indication of
database corruption. You should determine the nature of the out-of-synch
state before determining your next course of action. You can use some of our
recommended procedures for file therapy, like saving as XML, then importing
back to the server and forcing a rebuild of the binary record. Doing so
would cause you to lose actual work data in the web work table that hasn't
been updated into the project plan. You could try the binary rebuild alone
before you take the reimport step:
