ERROR: UNABLE TO DISPLAY THE FOLDER (INBOX ONLY)

Colleen Godden

Hi, can anyone please help? We are running Outlook 2000
and I have a user who's inbox cannot be displayed. All
other folders i.e. Calendar, Contacts, Sent etc. folders
can be viewed except for the Inbox. She has new messages
in her inbox as displayed in the folder list, yet the
error that is displayed when you click on the Inbox
is: "Unable to display the folder"

A bit of a long winded one, I know, but any advice would
be appreciated.

Exchange mailbox or pst-file? Can you view the folder in Outlook safe mode?

Are you able to connect to it by OWA or IMAP?
Try resetting the views as well by starting Outllok with the /cleanviews
switch.

If you need to have access as quickly as possible you might want to do an
exmerge and see if you can open it by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

I have the same problem, one of our employees connected to
the Exchange server with Outlook 2003 and now her Office
Workstation using Outlook 2000 will not display her inbox.
She can use OWA and read her email.. Like you said
everything else works fine, Contacts, Appointments, Task,
etc. just the inbox is not viewable.. Grey screen that
says Unable to display this folder.

I do not know how a person with user permissions can alter
the settings for the exchange server. I have tried setting
up another workstation and still the same message on the
inbox..

Let me know if you have any info on this problem...
