Error Unexpected error in the Grammar Checker

When I key in a new document or go into an existing document and go to tools
and run spelling and grammar check I get the following error.
There was an unexpected error in the grammar checker word cannot complete
the grammar check.

I have deinstalled and then reinstalled office 97 and I still get the same
message.

Please tell me what I should try next as I cannot get out of the error.
