Error upon opening Word 2002

I just set up a new user on a PC and everytime I open Word
the following message appears:
The global template, NORMAL.DOT, is already open as an add-
in program.
If I log in as the former user or administrator, this
doesn't happen. I have loaded the support.dot template and
run all the troubleshooting utilities to no avail. (KB
article 289506), done a detect and repair, downloaded all
the service packs and patches available. Any other
suggestions?

Thanks,
Cathy

It sounds as though you have an abandoned temp file messing up the system.
Check the Temp folder for both the new user and (most likely) the former
user and administrator and you will probably find them clogged with
abandoned temp files. The temp folder should be absolutely empty when all
applications are closed.

Log on for each user/admin in turn, don't start any applications and do the
following:

1. Windows Key+R and enter . and press enter.
2. Open Local Settings folder and then the Temp folder.
3. Delete all files you find in the temp folder.

When finished, reboot and test again.
