error: user does not have access privileges

Gavin

Hi,

Please help me solve my problem:

I brought home some word documents from work to use on my
home machine. I can open the files and read and type and
save perfectly. I have used eqiation editor to insert a
few formulae. When I try to modify these by double
clicking on them I get the following error message:

Word cannot open the document: user does not have access
privileges

I don't know what is wrong. Under the doc permission,
unrestricted access is checked.

When I try a blank document and insert an equation that
works, but when I type other stuff and want to edit the
equation again later, by double clicking on the equation
object, I get the same error message!

I'm not sure how to allow everyone to have access
privileges to a document, or is there another
workaround?

Please reply urgently.

Specs:
Windows XP SP1
Office 2003

Thanks

Try selecting the EQ and then using Ctrl+Shift+F9 (the unlink Field command)
and see if double-click will then open the EQ Editor.

Very strange but are you perchance using Norton Anti Virus? NAV is renowned
for buggering up Word. If you do have NAV, open it and disable the Office
plug-in.

Terry

When I do that (CTRL-SHIFT-F9) and double click,
the "Format Picture" Dialog box comes up.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Thanks Terry, you were so right it was nav. What a
useless programme to mess with settings that used to work
fine!

Now that I've disabled the office plugin everything opens
up perfectly!

Thanks again.

Terry,

I am having the same problem as Gavin - after inserting an
equation, it can't be edited with Word generating
the "Word cannot open the document: user does not have
access privileges".

I tried your Ctrl+Shift+F9 suggestion below and it turned
the equation into a picture type, and opened the picture
editor.

I recently installed Office 2003 Sutdent and Teachers
edition on a windows 2000 new machine. I am a math
teacher and the equation editor is essential!

All this worked before in Word 97 on a Win 98 machine.

Can you help

Thanks, Bruce
