Error when attempting to add an additional mailbox

I'm running Outlook 2000 SP3. I have two identical laptops, running Windows 2000 Professional SP4. Office 2000 Professional is installed the same way on both, installing SR-1 then applying SP3. When I attempt to add an additional mailbox to one of the laptops (Tools>Services>Microsoft Exchange Server Properties>Advanced Tab>Add) I get the error "The name could not be resolved. The action could not be completed." I do not get the error on the other laptop. Network connectivity is fine and am using DHCP to acquire DNS information.
