I just posted an inquiry about the same error; not
the 'attempting to open' but the 'has encountered a
problem and needs to close...' error.
We just moved to A02 on XP and have 60+ folks in my
department using a dozen or so DB's, some more than
others, some with multiple users at a time. What version
and server are you on?
Many are seeing the errors, we've been told to
select 'Don't Send' and generally you can reopen or reboot
and reopen and you're fine. However, sometimes a backup
file is created (Samename_Backup.mdb). Can't figure the
rhyme or reason. One reply said something about 10 max
users on XP? That can't be right, can it? My company has
over 700 ee's.
Can't link the errors to any specific event. Generally
folks only remember they get it when they move focus back
to an open Access file and try to 'do' anything. I've had
it happen while I'm in design view but can't track any
specific event.
Also told other departments aren't getting them anywhere
near as often as we are. We use Access much more than
those departments. So is it related to Access?
