Error when creating an Issue

I am having a problem creating a new issue and also when I try to use any of
the links at the bottom of an issues, such as affected tasks. I'm having the
same problem with creating a new risk.

I recieve the following error message: Windows SharePoint Services cannot
access information from Project Server. The possible reasons are:
1. The cross domain data access security setting for you Internet browser
is diabled.
2. You have declined to access cross domain data when prompted.

I have made sure the corss domain data access is set and the project server
and sharepoint services have been added to my trusted sights.

Other here can used this with no problem but several of us have this
problem.

Any ideas?

Julie,

More information here would be helpful.

Are the problem accounts project server accounts or are they using windows authentication?

What are the project server roles/permissions assigned to the users that have the problems?

Have you (or the project server administrators) granted permission to create new issues to these roles?

Is it consistent or inconsistent across users/roles?

Where and when does the failure occur?

Have the user accounts been granted access to the project workspace (documents, issues and risks)?

These questions can act as a beginning troubleshooting checklist. Post back answers to these questions and we can probably help better.

Julie,

Sounds like you've got everything in order. Have you tried to use the credentials that fail from a machine that has successfully connected and created issues in the past? If you can do that it may tell you if it's a credentials/persmissions problem or a machine configuration problem.

Have you gone to the Site Settings for the project workspace and verified that the user account you're trying to use to create the issue as the appropriate WSS permissions? What Site Groups do the affected accounts belong to? These permissions should be managed by the project server but it is possible for them to not synchronize the way you might expect.

By default, the Project Managers and Team Members site groups can create, edit, delete issues. Is it possible that the site group has been changed for the problem accounts?

I know this is frustrating so I hope you're not discouraged by all the questions. But since I can't look at your installation this is the only alternative when you're working problems on a NG.

Yes, I have signed on from another machine and can create an issue. This
leads me to believe it isn't a Project Server specific problem. More a
browser thing, there is an option withing IE that talks about Access Data
Across domains. That seems to fix the problem for some but not others. I am
current with my Microsoft updates.

No problem with the questions. We are a dead end here and need to figure
this out!

A download of MDAC 2.8 solved the problem.
