Error when dragging file to FP 2000

I'm getting a surprising error while working in FP 2000 (offline, and
even when no browser windows open). When I drag a file (a largish Word
document) from an Explorer folder into FP 2000, I get:

"An error occurred accessing your FrontPage web files. Authors - if
authoring against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this
server's site. WebMasters - please see the server's system log for
more details."

I'm particularly puzzled as at the time this happens I'm *not* trying
to access my web pages! I'm just working in FP 2000...

I've contacted the web server, but wonder if anyone here has any
advice about its likely cause please?

The message is generic and when it speaks to web files it means any that FP is working with including the one you just dragged into
it. Did you check your log?

Is the file over 1MB in size?
If so, copy the file into your web folders using Windows Explorer, then
open the web in FrontPage and use Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks.
This is a known issue in FrontPage that affects some, but not all, systems.

Yes, about 2MB.
If so, copy the file into your web folders using Windows Explorer, then
open the web in FrontPage and use Tools->Recalculate Hyperlinks.

Excellent, thanks, that fixed it! Much appreciate your prompt help -
that's been frustrating me for about 5 hours.

OK, understood thanks.

Could you amplify please? Ron has solved this particular mystery, but
this log might be useful in future . What log, and what steps do I
perform to check it?

Is there a proper fix for this?
