Error When Emailing Word Document

When I send a Word 2003 doc (File>Send To>Mail Recipient as attachment),
Outlook 2003 opens up a new email screen and attaches the Word doc. So far,
so good. The problem occurs when I type in comments in the body of the email
screen and then send it. The recipient can open the attachment just fine but
all the narrative comments are clipped (all they see is: <<...>>). The same
thing happens with .pdf documents. However, if I start a new email in
Outlook 2003 and then attach the Word or .pdf doc, the narrative comments
aren't clipped.

I'd sure appreciate some help with this problem.
